Our client based in Johannesburg is searching for a Finance Specialist SAP BPC for a 2 month contract.
This individual will be key to the Controls environment of the Bank by implementing controls where there is a need and to ensure that they operating effectively on an ongoing basis as well as to support the record to report process.
Responsibilities:
- Review, develop and implement suitable controls to ensure that financial, reporting and operational risks are mitigated. Pro-actively ensure that financial reporting controls are updated when there are changes, reviewed and challenged.
- Assist with the month end close process and resolve matters as and when they arise
- Prove and substantiate the balance sheet particularly at centre level
- Understand and support key processes (RAPM/Intercompany/Group/Eliminations/Consolidations)
- Understand and advise on key accounting transactions in relation to the general ledger and BPC
- Ensure that the financial master data (with support from GBS) is accurate and complete and well controlled i.e. manage chart of accounts, BPC hierarchies, AFS account requirements, thin ledger etc. This includes involvement in the general ledger clean-up project.
- Engagement with external auditors to ensure completeness of the year-end and interim results process.
- Assist to move reporting timeline earlier, and how reporting can be ‘automated’ or streamlined (i.e. RAPM etc.). First Pass (WD6) and Final Pass (WD9), aspirational target to get within WD5.
- Review and analysis of financial information for reporting. Perform monthly financial analysis
- Assist the Executive head in driving a strong values-based culture, while maintaining the cluster as a ‘great place to work’ and a highly desired destination for others across the bank.
- Play an integral role as part of the Group Financial Control team by setting and encouraging high standards of delivery and performance, integration, collaboration and teamwork, and achieving desired culture standards aligned to Nedbank’s vision and values.
Requirements:
- Big 4 articles is preferred (with a preference for banking sector articles)
- 1-3 years post articles experience
- SAP BPC experience
- Experience in financial statement preparation (preferred)
- IFRS, Consolidations and Principles of project management is beneficial
