Senior IT Operations Engineer

Swan iT is searching for a Senior IT Operations Engineer to join a client onsite in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

• Design and administer and maintain the company´s IT infrastructure.


• Create and implement policies, procedures, and standards for IT operations and services


• Keep up to date with rapid technological changes


• Support the administration of a wide area and local network


• Provide technical 2nd and 3rd level support to end users


• Implement, maintain and administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes


• Document and report on systems including design, SOP, root causes of faults and other IT reports as required by management from time to time.


• Mentoring of colleagues and peers both in the IT space


• Standby and after-hours escalations point of support issues


• Comply with financial services legislation

Essential requirements:

• HP Synergy / Server Blade Infrastructure


• Storage Technologies – Preferable HPE and Fibre Channel


• Hyper-V and Hyper-V Clusters


• Office 365 administration


• At least 5 years´ experience support an IT Technical environment


• Broad knowledge of software and hardware pertaining to servers, networks, PC's, and peripherals

• Failover Clusters for MS SQL Server

• VEEAM Backup and Recovery


• Operating Systems – Microsoft and Linux


• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and internetworking with heterogeneous technologies


• Perimeter Security


• Progression & capacity planning.


• Technical documentation

Skills:

• Grade 12, plus relevant diploma/degree


• Office 365 administration


• At least 5 years´ experience support an IT Technical environment


• Application Support experience (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, System Administration)


• Broad knowledge of software and hardware pertaining to servers, networks, PC's and peripherals


• Detailed knowledge of activities related to Microsoft System Support


• Windows and Linux Operating System Administration


• Networking fundamentals and Administration.


• Documentation/Technical Authoring


• Knowledge of Systems Architecture.


• ITIL - Advantageous


• Azure technologies - Advantageous


• Microsoft SQL Databases Administration - Advantageous
