Swan iT is on the hunt for an Oracle PL/SQL or SQL Developer for a client in Cape Town. The role involves defining, developing, testing, analysing and maintaining new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5 to 8 years + experience in PL/SQL or SQL
- Advanced technical knowledge in all areas of the application programming, system design, and update, storage, and retrieval methods.
- Strong customer liaison skills to define project specifications.
- Proficiency in application design and the ability to lead junior team members.

Responsibilities:
- Provide Technical Guidance and Support: Offer expertise and support to the product team, assisting with technical challenges and application issues.
- Design Solutions and Database Structures: Create high-level solutions, design efficient database tables, and develop software that meets business needs.
- Develop and Maintain PL/SQL or SQL Applications: Design, develop, and maintain robust PL/SQL or SQL scripts and applications to ensure quality software solutions that deliver expected results and value.
- Ensure End-to-End SDLC Delivery: Oversee and manage all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure successful project completion.
- Support Business Users and Teams: Assist with day-to-day queries from business users and PIT teams, providing first-line support and standby services when needed.
- Facilitate Effective Communication: Maintain regular and professional communication across all levels, from junior staff to senior management.
- Prepare Technical Specifications and Programs: Develop complex and highly technical specifications and programs independently.
- Assist Team with Technical Challenges: Provide support to the team in resolving application or technical problems as they arise.
